Race Report: RASCW Home Run 10K

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

I had no intention of going out there this morning and “racing”, and it was a very hilly course. So there are my two excuses. In all seriousness though, I am planning on trying to get a 16-mile run in tomorrow, so today was just for fun, and for measurement. I had fun running my […]

Race Report: Fox Cities Half Marathon

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

The race went very well. Outside of a single blister (a new one) on my right foot, I felt darn strong. I even ran a faster second half of the race. No aches, and my cardio is strong. What is the deal with my mangled looking right foot though? It’s full of blisters, or remnants […]

Jamie: 2:01:53 at the Batavia Half Madness Half Marathon

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

So my wife kicked ass this past weekend by bettering her previous half marathon time by almost 19 minutes, and by bettering mine by more than 15 minutes. Her hard work and dedication in training for the Chicago Marathon is evidently paying off. I am very proud of her.
Despite what you might be thinking, we […]

Race Recap: 2008 Silver Lake Triathlon

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

When making my sub-1:20:00 goal I forgot that Silver Lake is a 16 mile bike, not a 15. At 20 MPH, that’s an extra 3 minutes right there, so even though the race is now over, and I already set a goal, let’s just say my goal was to go sub-1:23:00.
I went 1:21:33. Yippee! Kidding. […]

Race Report: Freedom Run 5K (late addition)

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I got the idea on Tuesday to run in one of the local 5Ks on the 4th of July (Friday). I figured it would make me feel better about the planned missed workout on Wednesday (to take in a day at Summerfest), and because I would probably indulge this holiday weekend. I’m pleased with the […]

Race Report: 2008 Mighty Wolf Triathlon

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

However briefly, I experienced what I suspect it feels like to be an elite triathlete. It’s either this feeling, or failure that are probably the two best potential motivators. I’ve found finishing in the middle of the pack (at bigger races), does not reap the same motivation. It must be the anticipation or the possibility […]

Race Report: Clean Lakes Festival 5K (”Verdict: Cashed”)

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

The effects of 3 consecutive tempo runs in the days leading up to this 5K were cashed legs and a failed PR attempt. I did rest the day before the race, for recovery, but a few short minutes into this one and my legs were clearly not prepared for a better effort. I often also […]

Race Report: 12 Hours of Gears relay

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

It was a long day. Starting at 8 AM, my team got started along with the other 12-hour competitors. Jin carried the load with 7 laps, Garrett, Noah, and I, all did 5. This took us until a little after 7 PM. None of us crashed, and nobody quit, until we conceded that one […]

Race Report: 2008 Beloit Wellness Biathlon

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I had to look back at last year’s race report to see if I explained it, which I did not, so to keep things clear I first wanted to note that this race involved neither cross-country skiing, or shooting a rifle. As the race director himself points out (on megaphone) prior to the race, the […]
